56 is an intimate wine bar where a compact space meets huge personality. Right from the corner entrance, you’re greeted with a genuine, warm welcome and shown straight to your seat so you can unwind with a brilliant selection of wines, beers, and spirits.

Guests often say that the atmosphere feels just like having a drink in a friend’s front room, just with much better service. Spanning two cosy floors, the bar seats 45 in total. The upstairs room is a fantastic space for groups of up to 16, making it ideal for private parties and celebrations, while the ‘Naughty Corner’ downstairs offers the perfect intimate nook for a date night for two.

Though the kitchen is small and the menu carefully curated, the food created in that boutique space packs a massive punch. Sharing boards are the house speciality. Expect abundant Grazing Boards loaded with cheeses, cured meats, pâté, fruits, and artisan breads, or the crowd-favourite Chicken Tikka Board, which was so popular as a weekly special it earned a permanent spot on the menu. With plenty of delicious options to explore, you certainly won’t go home hungry.

Tucked away on a charming street in the heart of Oswestry, this intimate bar is the kind of place you stumble upon once,  and then can’t stop recommending.

From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted not just as a customer, but as a welcome guest. The heart of the menu lies in its beautifully curated sharing boards, and what a triumph they are. Think generous cheese platters, charcuterie selections, and expertly assembled combo boards that strike the perfect balance between indulgence and finesse.

A grown up gastro-type establishment which is cozy, intimate and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Great selection of alcoholic drinks; wine, sparkling, champagne, gin, vodka, rum, whisky and always a good local draft Ale on tap. There are food “share boards” available for those who are peckish so just ask once you’re there.

Definitely worth a visit and very different to any other drinking venue in Oswestry. Do check the opening times though.

Thanks, Amie, Rod and Staff for always making it special whenever I’ve popped over for a drink and a laugh.
