Focusing on Possibilities: How Oswestry Entrepreneur Vicki Wilson is Rewriting the Narrative on Disability
How Oswestry Entrepreneur Vicki Wilson is Rewriting the Narrative on Disability
Oswestry is home to a thriving community of independent businesses, but few stories are as deeply inspiring as that of Vicki Wilson. The founder of the award-winning virtual assistant business, Vicki Admin Fairy®, Vicki has spent years quietly dismantling stereotypes from her base in Weston Rhyn. Now, she is taking her message to a much wider audience with the launch of her upcoming memoir, Disability Is My Strength: A Life Built Without Limits, Labels or Permission.
Scheduled for release on 5 November 2026, the book is evolving from a personal history into a powerful movement aimed at challenging how society views disability.
A Journey Built on Resilience
Born with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Vicki’s early life was a masterclass in navigating a world poorly equipped for accessibility. Raised to focus entirely on what she could achieve rather than what she couldn’t, she balanced mainstream education with an endless cycle of hospital appointments, therapy sessions, and childhood surgeries.
For two decades, Vicki built a stable career working for HMRC. However, when redundancy struck in 2020, she chose to view the setback not as a limitation, but as a catalyst. She built Vicki Admin Fairy® from the ground up, providing essential administrative, systems, and social media support to self-employed individuals and small businesses right across the UK.
Her entrepreneurial success did not go unnoticed. Vicki’s dedication has earned her significant national recognition, including:
Moving Beyond the Stereotypes
Disability Is My Strength offers a raw, honest, and frequently humorous look at the reality behind these accolades. The book is crafted not just for the disabled community, but for educators, business owners, families, and professionals who want to understand disability beyond conventional tropes.
Rather than inviting pity, Vicki’s writing reframes disability as a distinct source of capability and unique perspective. As Vicki notes:
“For many years I focused on what people thought I couldn’t do. This book is about everything I have done despite those expectations. I want disabled people to see what is possible, and I want others to understand that disability is only one part of who we are. Disability is not my weakness. It is one of my greatest strengths.“
Driving Local and Regional Change
Vicki’s impact stretches well beyond her desk. She is a passionate accessibility advocate, a Digital Boost Mentor, and a Wrexham 2029 Ambassador.
Her commitment to creating inclusive spaces is also central to her official book launch, which will take place on 5 November 2026 at Stori Brymbo in Wrexham. The choice of venue is deeply personal; Vicki volunteers as the Accessibility Champion for Stori Brymbo, actively working to ensure the space is genuinely welcoming and accessible to every visitor. The launch event will feature a fireside chat, an audience Q&A, and a book signing.

As both her thriving business and her new book are rooted right here in the Oswestry area, Vicki is keen to share her journey with the local community that has supported her growth.
