Boosting Our Community: National Lottery Funding Available Now
The National Lottery Awards for All England Scheme is Open for Applications
If you run a local group, charity, or grassroots project, there is a fantastic opportunity to secure vital financial support. The National Lottery Awards for All England scheme is open for applications, offering grants to help bring people together, improve local spaces, and support communities through ongoing challenges.
Here is everything you need to know about what the funding is, who qualifies, and how your organisation can apply.
What is the funding?
The National Lottery Awards for All programme offers quick, straightforward grants ranging from £300 up to £20,000. The funding is designed for small-scale projects lasting up to two years. It focuses on initiatives that build strong community relationships, improve the spaces that matter to local people, and offer early-stage support to help individuals reach their potential. It is also an excellent resource for organisations experiencing increased demand due to the cost-of-living crisis.
Who can apply?
The scheme is highly accessible and aims to support a wide range of non-profit organisations. You can apply if your group is a:
Voluntary or community organisation
Registered charity
Constituted group or club
Community Interest Company (CIC)
School (as long as the project benefits the wider community, not just pupils)
Statutory body, such as a town or parish council
Please note that individuals, profit-making companies, and organisations that currently hold an active Awards for All grant are not eligible to apply.
What can the money be spent on?
The funding is incredibly flexible, allowing groups to cover both the practical resources and the day-to-day costs of running a project. You can use the grant for:
Running costs: Including venue hire, utilities, insurance, or heating.
Equipment: Tools, materials, or technology needed to get your project moving.
Staffing & training: Paying for sessional workers, staff time, or volunteer expenses.
Events and activities: Funding local workshops, community gatherings, or launch events.
Whether you want to start a completely new activity or need support to adapt and continue an existing service, this grant can help bridge the gap.
How to apply
Applications are completed online through the National Lottery Community Fund portal. The process is designed to be straightforward, but you will need to prepare a few key pieces of information before you start:
Community involvement: Be ready to explain how local people have been involved in planning your project and how it meets their needs.
Financial documents: You will need to provide bank statements from the last three months for your organisation’s account.
Contacts: You must provide details for two unrelated individuals within your organisation who can act as points of contact.
The fund operates on a rolling basis with no strict deadlines, so you can apply whenever your project is ready. However, because it takes around 16 weeks to receive a decision, it is best to get your application in well ahead of your project’s planned start date.
If your community group is looking to kickstart a new initiative, improve a local space, or extend a vital service, visit the National Lottery Community Fund website to check the full guidance and begin your application.
