The ScottishPower Foundation Annual Grants Fund 2027 is officially accepting applications. Because of the branding, many groups automatically assume this grant is restricted to projects north of the border. However, the foundation explicitly supports registered charities across the entirety of the United Kingdom, making local groups perfectly eligible to apply.

What is the fund?
The ScottishPower Foundation provides restricted funding designed to support specific, impactful projects rather than day-to-day running costs. For this upcoming round, they are offering grants between £50,000 and £100,000 for one-year projects starting between late March and December 2027.
To be considered, your project must align with at least one of the foundation’s main strategic pillars, which are heavily focused on driving positive social and environmental change. These include:
Education, Training and Research: Improving access to STEM learning and boosting employability for disadvantaged or underrepresented groups.
Biodiversity and Environment: Protecting natural habitats, safeguarding wildlife, and helping communities adopt sustainable practices.
Art and Culture: Preserving cultural heritage and improving access to the arts.
Social Action: Tackling economic insecurity, with a strong focus on reducing child and in-work poverty, or helping older people and those with disabilities access support.
New Technologies: Reducing digital exclusion and using technology for creative expression.
Additionally, every funded project must contribute to at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Who is eligible?
The foundation has specific structural and financial criteria to ensure the money goes to established, well-regulated entities. To apply, your organisation must meet all of the following requirements:
Charity Status: You must be registered with a UK charity regulator (such as the Charity Commission for England and Wales) for at least two full years.
Financial Bandwidth: Your income in your most recent set of published accounts must be between £100,000 and £5,000,000. Furthermore, the grant amount you request cannot exceed 50% of your total income.
Governance: You must have an active board of at least three unrelated, independent trustees.
Wage Commitments: The foundation strongly advocates for fair pay. Any job role that is directly funded by this grant must be paid at or above the voluntary hourly rate set by the Living Wage Foundation.

The application process is handled entirely online and is split into two main stages:
The Eligibility Stage: You must first complete a quick online eligibility form on the ScottishPower Foundation website. This acts as a gatekeeper to ensure your organisation meets the baseline criteria.
The Full Application: Once you pass the eligibility check, you will receive a direct link to the full application form via email. This form allows you to save your progress as you go.
You will need to have several documents ready to upload, including your Articles of Association, your latest published annual accounts, and a formal Safeguarding Policy if your project works directly with children or vulnerable adults.

Keep an eye on the deadline
The absolute final deadline for submissions is 12 noon on Friday 24 July 2026.
However, there is a major catch: the foundation caps the total number of applications they will accept at 350. Given the high demand for funding of this size, the portal is highly likely to close early if they hit that limit before the July deadline. If your charity meets the criteria, it is well worth getting your application drafted and submitted as early as possible.
