The Sweeney Restaurant, Bar & Rooms

The Sweeney is a family-run restaurant, bar & rooms set in our stunning Georgian Country House just outside the market town of Oswestry, in North-West Shropshire.

The property has been in our family since 1993, and we took full ownership of the business in 2006. Since then, it has undergone extensive refurbishment and is now a contemporary space, with the character that we fell in love with originally sprinkled in. 

Family is at the forefront of everything that we do, and that’s reflected in our team’s passion for their work, our service and our attention to detail.

We’ve owned, and loved, the Sweeney for over 30 years and are incredibly proud of our independent Country House.

We have a huge number of strings to our bow: a vibrant restaurant & bar, fourteen individually designed bedrooms, and a remarkably versatile event & wedding space.

Overseen by (breaking the fourth wall here…) my husband Sean and our son, Archie, our team work tirelessly to ensure that your time with us is special. With family at the centre of everything at the Sweeney, we think there is a unique warmth and comfort you get to enjoy when you walk through the doors.
